I am happy to share that I have recently been offered (and accepted!) the position of graphic designer at the Franklin Institute! I have been freelancing there in-house for the past few months, and I am elated to be joining the design team full-time. Check out some of the things I've been working on after the jump:

my refrigerator is famous.
My SEPTA ads for the Coalition Against Hunger are up! (They've been up for a little while, I didn't get the chance to take a photo till recently.) There are three different designs, some are large ads in the stations, long ads inside the subway cars on the Broad Street line, and a few bus shelters! I'm not sure where the bus shelters are, I hope I run into one.
Here is one of my ads in 15th Street Station, along with the other two designs. I did my own photography, so that's my fridge, and my food items in there!

walk against hunger 2011
Recently on the top of my freelance list has been the new materials for this year's Walk + Run Against Hunger, which is coming up this April the 9th. The Coalition had some updates in mind for this year's identity - including adding "Run" in the title, and using an orange color. Here's what I've been working on so far:
The t-shirt design is still a work in progress - it's hard to fit so much information/sponsor logos, etc in a good-looking shirt design.
To find out more about the Walk + Run Against Hunger, or to register to participate check out the Coalition's website. It's a great cause; money raised by the event benefits food pantries and soup kitchens throughout the Philadelphia region. I did it last year, it was a lot of fun!

shutter happy
I bought a Canon Rebel XSi a few years ago, and I go through spurts of taking lots of photographs. Recently a few things have gotten me back to snapping away:
The recent epic snowstorms have made for some dramatic lighting situations to shoot -
My intense love of birdwatching and my telephoto lens lets me catch some shots of visitors to my window bird feeder -
And of course, when I just feel like messing around with my camera with nothing else to photograph, my roommate's cat Brody is always looking glamorous and willing to model herself for me -

I've got a lot of personal projects and other freelance stuff in the works, so stay tuned for more updates. Have a great week!

freelance fitness logo
I've been working on some logos recently for a fitness program in exchange for fitness training sessions. The concept behind the workout is holding powerful static poses in intervals which add up to fifteen minutes - its a hardcore workout. She's still deciding on the rebranded name for it, but the one requirement was to focus on the clock, fifteen minute concept. So here are a few of my first rough ideas. The barter system is sweet - who needs currency anyway?
We're still in the early stages of figuring this new brand out, I'll post more when I have some more finished products to share. I'm looking forward to getting lots of working out in!
Now if only my landlord, my student loans bank, and the Shop Rite of West Philadelphia were willing to barter design services...
